Our Seniors Future As more and more Baby Boomers reach retirement age, cities across the country are looking to create senior-friendly communities to attract the aging population. In the US, the population of people 65 and older is expected to grow to 88.5 million by 2050. The Miami-Dade County population aged 60 and older is expected to grow to more than 800,000 by 2040. Research shows that older Americans should have the opportunities, the options, and the environment to stay active, engaged, and healthy with dignity and enjoyment thereby improving the health, well being, satisfaction and quality of life for them. A good organization, (such as SCS) promotes the health and quality of life of seniors, so they can live a more fulfilling existence. Our organization SCS was started nine years ago and we were one of the first to forge a senior-friendly club within our community with our social luncheons and trips. Our motto has always been to Educate, Entertain and Socialize. So let’s all be proud of ourselves and of our organization.
